A custom personality in Scam With Your Friends is a caller you define yourself: a JSON file for the character and a WAV file for the voice. Both are base features listed on the store page, which makes this the most concrete modding promise in the game.
What the store page confirms
Three sentences, all official:
- "Create custom personalities through JSON files and voice cloning WAV files."
- The content is heavily moddable.
- Personalities are content, which means the AI callers you meet in the base game are themselves personalities.
That last point is the useful one for anyone planning to make mods: the moddable thing is the same system the game itself runs on, not a parallel mini-format bolted on for modders.
What a personality file has to cover
The schema is unpublished, so this section is the feature read logically, not documentation. A caller in the game is visibly more than a text prompt, and official screenshots show what the game renders for each one:
| What the game shows for a caller | Where you see it |
|---|---|
| A name and a portrait | Every call window |
| A mood or attitude, with a trust meter | The caller panel during calls |
| A voice | The call audio |
| Dialogue that reacts live to what you say | The transcript during calls |
So a personality file logically needs to carry identity, behaviour and a voice, and the WAV clone covers the last of those. How much of the behaviour is prompt text versus structured fields is exactly what the missing schema would answer.

What is not documented
- The JSON fields. Names, required keys, nesting, limits.
- The WAV constraints. Length, sample rate, size, and whether one file per personality or several.
- The install path. Where the game looks for mod files.
- Safety review. Whether uploaded or shared personalities are filtered in any way, and how voice cloning consent is handled. The store lists in-game chat and online interaction, and the AI disclosure states that calls are processed by the third-party service OpenRouter, both of which make this a real question rather than a theoretical one.
Until the developer publishes the format, treat any guide that claims to have the schema as unverified, and check it against the official channels list first. The mods page tracks the overall modding picture and updates when documentation lands.
